Description

Rum from the Caribbean Sea, produced by House of Angostura in Trinidad & Tobago. A spirit created in 1824, it has an ABV of 40% and comes in a 0.70-liter bottle. Aromas of wood, beeswax, and fresh varnish combine with notes of enamel, incense, and plum jam. The color is a deep amber yellow with copper and gold highlights. On the palate, it is warm, enveloping, and refined, with mouth-watering notes of candied tropical fruit that progresses through a velvety body to sweet spicy notes of vanilla and nutmeg, culminating in a long, lingering, slightly almondy finish.

The story of Angostura aromatic bitters is a journey through time.

It started in 1824, when founder Dr. Johann Siegert first produced aromatic bitters as a medicinal tincture designed to alleviate stomach ailments.

In the 1870’s, Dr. Siegert’s three sons migrated to Trinidad, among them Don Carlos Siegert, who pioneered the brand, establishing Angostura aromatic bitters as an integral ingredient in cocktails and in food. The rest, as they say, is history.

Angostura aromatic bitters is today a staple for bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts, professional and home cooks alike, bounded only by the creativity and imaginations of those who use it.
