Description

What kind of spirit is this

Amara Amaro di Arance Rosse is an artisanal liqueur crafted by Rossa, serving as both a refined digestif and a versatile cocktail base. It reveals a clear golden colour and a vibrant bouquet dominated by citrus and Mediterranean botanicals. The palate opens with an inviting sweetness that flows seamlessly into a savoury bitter finish. Defined by intense blood orange notes, this spirit is balanced at 30% ABV, offering a naturally refreshing and authentic flavour.

Geographical origin

Originating from Misterbianco on the slopes of Mount Etna, this liqueur is a tribute to the fertile landscape of Sicily. The Mediterranean climate provides the perfect environment for growing Tarocco blood oranges across the Catania plain. The recipe focuses on the peels of the Gallo and Nocellara varieties, carefully selected for their rich aromatics. These are combined with wild Etna herbs, resulting in a citrus-forward and herbaceous profile that is deeply rooted in its volcanic terroir.

How it is produced

Produced in small batches, the liqueur is created through a meticulous infusion process to naturally extract essential citrus oils and aromatic compounds. The peels and botanicals are steeped before being blended with high-quality alcohol, sugar, and purified water. This entirely additive-free method ensures a clean, unadulterated taste with a persistent herbal bitterness. Best served well-chilled, neat, or over ice, it also serves as a sophisticated addition to aperitifs and long drinks.

History and Trivia

Crafted in Misterbianco on the slopes of Mount Etna, Amara is an artisanal amaro created by the Mazza brothers to celebrate Sicilian heritage. This vibrant liqueur is produced in small batches to preserve its natural quality. Its authentic flavour stems from a pure infusion of Tarocco blood orange peels—specifically the Gallo and Nocellara varieties, renowned for their deep red flesh. Masterfully blended with aromatic wild Etna herbs, reverse-osmosis water, alcohol, and sugar, this additive-free digestif delivers a truly captivating Mediterranean taste.

Rossa Sicily
From this winery
Rossa Siciliy, a young and modern company founded by Giuseppe and Edoardo, was founded with the aim of enhancing the Sicilian territory and its most significant products: the red oranges of Sicily.

In fact, Rossa was born from the passion and boundless love for Sicily of two enthusiastic entrepreneurs and friends, who with enthusiasm ventured into a project with a Sicilian flavor.

Thanks to a catchy and fresh marketing, innovative packaging, but above all to its unmistakable aroma of red orange, which expresses Sicily and its wonderful citrus fruits in sip, the Amara Liquor immediately gathers numerous consents both in national and foreign fields.

The orange liqueur, Amara, comes to life in a short time, thanks to a traditional recipe revisited in a modern key, naturally based on red oranges from Sicily, grown on the slopes of Etna, near Catania.

The characteristic conformity of the surrounding territory, the rich soil and the strong thermal excursions allow the Sicilian citrus fruits to find the ideal place for their optimal development, reaching very high quality standards, like that of the Sicilian Red Oranges PGI, in the three cultivated varieties: Tarocco (the best known), Moro and Sanguinello.

Unique Sicilian bitterness, it contains the genuineness and the rural tradition, offering a craft liqueur with intense Mediterranean references and a strong character, in line with the values of the land of origin.
