Just a stone's throw from the centre of the French city of Épernay in France, Château des Archers is home to all the facilities dedicated to Champagne production.
The path of Gaston Burtin goes hand in hand with the path of his Champagne house. One cannot speak of Mr Burtin without referring to it.
Gaston Burtin settled in Champagne in 1923 where he married Suzanne Sacotte. In 1933, at the age of 33, he decided to embark on an entrepreneurial adventure and created Maison Burtin.
In 1958, he bought the Château des Archers, a magnificent building a few steps from the Avenue de Champagne in Épernay, to develop his business, which he saw expand over time. Iconic boss in the 1960s and 1970s, visionary businessman, at the forefront of technical development.
Maison Burtin thus became the second most important Champagne house of the time. For eight years he was president of the Syndicat des Négocuiants de Champagne. Gaston Burtin remains true to himself, modest, ambitious and realistic.
His motto: "Be bold and say little" (Be bold and say little). In March 2006, Lanson- BCC took over Maison Burtin.
