Description
What kind of wine it is
Campo di Camagi from Tenuta di Trinoro is a red wine made from Cabernet Franc grapes, capable of expressing a full and balanced structure. In the glass, it reveals a deep ruby colour and an aromatic profile that weaves together notes of blackcurrant and blueberry with hints of tobacco, dry earth, sweet spices, fresh violets and graphite. The palate is supported by soft, polished tannins, which provide a splendid texture. To best enhance its complexity, a one-hour decanting is recommended. It pairs perfectly with flavourful first courses, pork and cheeses, guaranteeing remarkable ageing potential.
Where it comes from
This red from Tenuta di Trinoro originates in Tuscany, in the beautiful setting of the Val d’Orcia, at the foot of Monte Cetona. The vineyards are spread across various altitudes, between 450 and 600 metres above sea level. The wine’s distinctive profile derives from clay-limestone and gravelly soils, enriched with quartz and limestone, with plots situated on blue clays. This particular geology, combined with a high planting density, drives the roots deep and concentrates the aromas, resulting in an authentic territorial expression rich in structure and olfactory definition.
How it is produced
Production begins with a rigorous manual selection and harvest, essential for preserving the integrity of the fruit. In the winery, the must ferments for twelve days in steel tanks. Ageing takes place in two stages: the wine first matures for eight months in new French oak barrels, developing further roundness, then rests and stabilises for eleven months in concrete vats. This meticulous care enhances the purity of the grape variety, offering a wine with a precise technical profile and marked longevity.

The Founder, Andrea Franchetti acquired the property in the 1980s and in the beginning of the 1990s started planting his first vines. The most important lesson he gleaned from a stint in Bordeaux was the crucial role played by terroir. He saw, in the rough woodland that would become Trinoro,clay-limestone and gravel soils reminiscent of those in Saint-Émilion. Only select parcels were suitable for vine-growing, amid a sea of blue clay, and those he cleared by hand and planted in the style of the Bordelais: high-density, meter-by-meter plantings, with cuttings brought over from some of the region’s great estates.
