Still red, Toscana IGT, 15% ABV, 100% Ciliegiolo, produced by Mastrojanni in Montalcino. 0.75 L bottle, 2020 vintage. A Ciliegiolo that expresses the soul of Tuscany, with an aromatic intensity that captures the essence of the fruit and the terroir. Aged for approximately 8 months in barrel, at least 4 months in bottle. In Castelnuovo dell’Abate, in the far southeast of Montalcino, lies a corner of land that has long remained unnoticed. A remarkable intensity, reminiscent of ripe cherries paired with blueberry jam. An opulent entry, smooth with sweet tannins that complement the depth and savory character typical of the grape variety and its native soils.

In Castelnuovo dell’Abate, at the far southeastern corner of Montalcino, lies a piece of land that remained unnoticed for a long time. At a time when few dared, we began our winemaking adventure, driven by passion and dedication, where the presence of the Orcia River and Mount Amiata creates a unique microclimate.

We have always felt the need to challenge ourselves. Since November 2022, we have embarked on a transformative journey, moving towards a holistic approach to cultivation. Currently, our agricultural methods are based on non-invasive practices. At Mastrojanni, herbicides have never been used, and since November 2022, no chemical products have been applied. We cultivate the land with respect, preserving biodiversity and maintaining the genetic heritage of our vineyards. It is our deep understanding of the soil that guides the care of the vineyards along with the attentive listening to nature by the people who work for it.

Time seems to tell us that the true wonder of these places lies in their identity, inspiring us, transcending even those who own the land. Read more
