Description
What kind of wine is it
Bellavista Alma is a dynamic Franciacorta, born from the balance between Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc. Crafted with precision according to the Traditional Method, this Extra Brut sparkling wine displays a brilliant straw yellow colour and a fine, persistent perlage. The bouquet reveals aromas of yellow citrus fruits, ginger and beeswax. On the palate, it expresses a balanced gustatory tension, with notes of citron, lemon leaf, white plum and aromatic herbs, finishing with subtle hints of blond tobacco and a long mineral finish.
Where does it come from
The grapes destined for this blend come from Lombardy, in the Franciacorta area. The vineyards tended by Bellavista, an estate founded in 1977 under the oenological supervision of Francesca Moretti, grow in an alluvial hilly landscape. The marl soils, rich in limestone and pebbles, ensure a pronounced savoury character. The vines, which reach around twenty-seven years of age, are cultivated at a density of five thousand plants per hectare, using systems such as Guyot, spur-pruned cordon and Sylvoz to respect the identity of the terroir.
How is it produced
The process begins with manual harvesting and continues with separate vinification of the parcels. The blend incorporates selected reserve wines aged in small and large barrels. The prise de mousse strictly follows the Traditional Method, with a minimum maturation on the lees of thirty months, essential for achieving a lively and creamy mousse. The Extra Brut dosage, with 3.5 grams per litre of residual sugar, maintains a dry profile, while the acidity of 6.3 grams per litre and a pH of 3.13 support a vibrant freshness.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1977, Bellavista embodies the excellence of Franciacorta with the Alma Assemblage 2. This refined Traditional Method is created from a skilful mosaic of 60 vineyards, blending Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc with fine reserve wines aged in oak. The lengthy maturation of at least 30 months and the exclusive Magnum format ensure a slow evolution, enhancing a profound aromatic complexity. The palate is dynamic and mineral, enriched by an extremely fine perlage that offers elegant and harmonious notes of citrus, ginger and beeswax.
