Description

Wine type

Francesco I Franciacorta Brut by Uberti is a white Brut wine with a Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin that elegantly interprets the famous Lombardy region. Crafted strictly according to the Traditional Method, it appears in the glass with a bright straw-yellow colour, enhanced by an abundant mousse and a refined perlage. The aromatic profile opens with fresh hints of plum and grapefruit, accompanied by light floral notes and nuances of green almond. On the palate, it is pleasantly fruity and fragrant, developing a medium complexity that finishes with a steady persistence, a quality recognised by the ninety points awarded by Vinous.

Origin

The grapes destined for this label grow on fifteen-year-old vines located between the Lombardy municipalities of Erbusco, Adro, Cologne, and the locality of Calino in Cazzago San Martino. This specific area of Franciacorta is characterised by hilly soils of morainic origin, which are particularly dry, well-exposed, and constantly ventilated. The soil is rich in minerals and stony matter, fundamental elements for giving the wine a distinct aromatic definition and an unmistakable citrus texture. The pedoclimatic characteristics favour a clear expression and the formation of a fine perlage grain.

How it is produced

The production process begins with a careful selection of the bunches and soft pressing, followed by the fermentation of the must in stainless steel. After the spring tirage, the wine undergoes the second fermentation in the bottle via the Traditional Method and faces ageing on the lees for over thirty months. This long maturation structures the organoleptic profile, enhancing the fruity aromas and giving fragrance to the sip. Following disgorgement, a further rest of at least six months is required before being placed on the market, an essential phase to achieve an impeccable balance.

The Uberti winery was established in 1793 in thevillage of Salem in the town of Erbusco, when this family of winegrowers began producing Franciacorta wines even before they became famous. Beginning in 1980, Uberti imposed itself on the wine scene with the production of Classic Method sparkling wines that were both complex and refined. Today, the Cantina Uberti boasts some 25 hectares under vine with an annual production of 180,000 bottles and great popularity. Uberti prides itself on a method of production that respects the terroir by aiming to make the most of both existing and ancient vineyards. It is no coincidence that only natural fertilisers are used and that work in the vineyard is carried out using the hands and few mechanical tools. The Uberti Franciacorta wines are distinguished by their elegant taste and aromatic richness. At Xtrawine you can find a wide selection of Franciacorta Uberti wines, which have been awarded major prizes by the AIS Association, made from Chardonnay and Blend Rosso that go perfectly with your shellfish, pasta and cheese dishes.
