The soils are classic Vulture soils of volcanic origin, clayey and tufa with an altitude ranging from 400 to 750 meters. The pride of the company and then the small vineyard at 800 metres above sea level where Pinot Nero is grown, to which some ampelographic theories attribute ancient origins in nearby Enotria. The plants are espalier with a density varying from 5000 to 9000 vines per hectare and some plants over 40 years old. Yields are very low and are about 40 quintals per hectare for the top wines. Aglianico is, of course, the protagonist of the vineyard but leaves room, in addition to Pinot Noir, also Malvasia to make the only white wine of the company. Read more
