Description
This variety is our winery’s standard bearer. Its homeland is to be found in an area covering part of Friuli’s Colli Orientali and in the Italian and Slovenian parts of the Gorizia Hills. The history of Ribolla is richly documented. The first document certifying the existence of a Ribolla wine, produced from a range of varieties, dates back to 1207. However, we would have to wait a few centuries – until 1822 no less – before finding a text that clearly refers to the variety. Ribolla Gialla has been vinified as a monovarietal for about seventy years. Initially it was only partially fermented must, but today it is highly appreciated as both a dry still wine and a sparkling wine. It is already clear from the aesthetic choice of the bottles, large, dark and heavy, with opulent labels: a clear signal for the consumer, who must be able to immediately perceive the quality and importance of the product.
It should not be forgotten that Valerio Civa focuses on large retailers, with its wines usually present on the shelves of Auchan and other large supermarkets, a sales area where packaging plays a fundamental role.
Another communicative choice is the 85/15 logo imprinted on the labels, which indicates wines obtained for 85% with the vine of the Denomination and for 15% with the best cultivars of the estate.
A production therefore with a well-defined target market, with a quality level that rewrites the rules of the game.
