To say Planeta is to say the best Sicilian wine reality. Closely linked to the place where it is located, the Cantina Planeta offers a series of labels of great territorial adherence, truly unique: La Baronia in Capo Milazzo, Dispensa in Menfi, Buonivini at Noto, Feudo di Mezzo on the Mount Etna in Castiglione di Sicilia and Ulmo in Sambuca di Sicilia. These are the places where the Cantine Planeta wineries are located, whose history has been handed down since the XVI century, by no less than 17 generations. It is a project that always keeps its gaze fixed on the past, but immersed in the present with a focus on the future. This is manifested both through the link with the ancient Sicilian winemaking tradition symbolised by indigenous varieties such as: Carricante, Frappato, Grecanico, Nerello mascalese, Moscato di Noto and Nero d'Avola, and by international varieties such as Merlot, Chardonnay and Syrah. Xtrawine offers you a wide range of Planeta wines that have received major awards from AIS, from the best vintages of 2016 and 2017. All the Planeta wines featured on Xtrawine are characterised by intense fruity and floral aromas and a strong flavour. Read more

Origin La Baronia - Milazzo (ME)
Climate Altitude: 30 m. a.s.l.
Soil composition Capo Milazzo arose as an extension of the mountains in the north of Sicily, from the outcropping of the sea and subsequent transformations. It appears as a flat promontory bordered by steep escarpments that descend almost 60 metres to the sea. The soils of alluvial origin are loose, dark, deep and with little skeleton, generally rich in the silty fraction.
Cultivation system Nero D'Avola: spurred cordon; Nocera: spurred cordon, supported bush.
Plants per hectare 5000
Yield per hectare Nero d'Avola: 60 quintals; Nocera: 65 quintals.
Harvest 18 September.
Wine making The grapes are hand-picked into 14 kg crates and, as soon as they reach the winery, they are passed to the sorting table for selection, then crushed and destemmed. They ferment in steel vats and remain on the skins for 14 days at 25 °C with repeated pumping over until the end of the period. This is followed by racking in a soft press, and the resulting wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in steel.
Aging 12 months of ageing in 35 hl barrels.
Total acidity 5.25 gr/L
PH 3.52
Allergens Contains sulphites
