Description

Maculan Bianco Passito Dindarello is an intense white wine from the Veneto region and holds the IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) certification. Its production is entrusted to the family-run Maculan winery, which has tended the vineyards with commitment and passion for three generations, creating unique products. Their viticulture is located in the small hilltop village of Breganze, in Veneto. Bianco Passito Dindarello benefits from the area's mild climate, protected by the Asiago Plateau, and the unique hilly terrain composed of volcanic soil and tuff. It is made from Moscato Bianco vines. The term Passito refers to the treatment of the grapes during the harvest. The bunches of grapes are harvested, placed in crates, and left to dry slightly before undergoing the traditional production process. This drying process, which lasts about a month, gives the final product a sweeter, fuller body. The grapes are then taken to the cellar, pressed, and fermented at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged in stainless steel tanks for approximately two months. It is then bottled, and after three months of further ageing, which perfects this wine, it is ready for release.

Our story began in a little osteria in Mirabella, a hamlet of Breganze. Here, from the 1920s to the ‘40s, great-grandfather Gaetano produced some of the wine that served to quench the thirst of passing cart drivers.

It was grandfather Giovanni who founded the actual winery, in 1947. Between the ‘50s and ‘60s he specialized in producing substantial quantities of white and red wines, which he distributed in large-sized bottles to osterie, trattorias and grocers’ shops, the so-called "casoini".

The revolution – from a quality point of view – was the work of Fausto. In 1973, after finishing his studies in Conegliano, he returned to the company and took over the reins of the business. In spite of some initial difficulties, his tenaciousness, thirst for knowledge and desire to experiment in both the vineyards and winery led the young oenologist to become one of the major innovators in Italian wine.

Today, Maria Vittoria and Angela share the running of the estate with their father Fausto. Thanks to their professionalism and enterprise, they represent the future of the Maculan company, focusing on technological innovation, sustainability and internationalization.
