History According to Italian law, the princely variety of the Montefalco area can only be labelled on Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG wines but not on the other DOC wines of the area, and is therefore not listed alongside Sangiovese and Merlot in this card. Label: Tenuta di Montefalco design. In the foreground the falcon, symbol of Montefalco, which was so named by Emperor Frederick II of Swabia, who loved to stop here to hunt falcons.
