Description

What kind of wine it is

Mon Rouge by Les Crêtes is a still red wine that expresses the soul of the Aosta Valley through a carefully crafted blend. This combination brings together Cornalin, Fumin, Vuillermin, Gamay and Petit Rouge to define an organoleptic profile of great appeal. In the glass, it displays a ruby red hue, revealing a fresh bouquet characterised by distinct fruity and floral notes. On the palate, it is soft and delicate, with a smooth and easy-drinking character that finds the right balance in a subtle freshness on the finish.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the heart of heroic viticulture, grown at altitudes between 500 and 600 metres. The vineyards stretch across various exposures between Aymavilles, Saint-Pierre, Gressan, Saint-Christophe and Aosta. In these Alpine areas, the vines are trained using the Guyot system on moraine soil, loose and sandy, which enhances the aromatic elegance. The sustainable approach adopted allows for fruit that faithfully reflects the nuances of the mountain environment.

How it is produced

After manual harvesting, vinification involves fermentation for about a week in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with daily pump-overs for gentle extraction. The wine then matures for six months in the same container, preserving its natural fragrance. Ideally served at 14-16 °C, it is recommended to open it about an hour before consumption. Its versatility makes it perfect paired with white and red meats, vegetarian dishes, cured meats and mature cheeses.

History and Curiosities

Heir to a winemaking tradition dating back to 1750, the Les Crêtes winery celebrates the essence of heroic viticulture with the Mon Rouge 2024. This fine red is produced from grapes hand-picked in mid-October, grown in the picturesque vineyards of the Valle d’Aosta DOC following a strictly organic and sustainable approach. Under the expert guidance of oenologists Raffaele Crotta and Eleonora Charrère, innovation blends with respect for the land, offering a sensory experience that encapsulates the entire Alpine spirit and the passion of a historic family-run winery.
