Description
Grange Philippe Merlot is a still red wine made from 100% Merlot grapes. It is a French wine from the Languedoc-Roussillon region, located in the southern part of France on the border with Spain. The winery that produces it, Gres Saint Paul, takes its name from a medieval church built in the heart of the region, aptly named Saint Paul de Cabrières; from its ruins, the company was born, now owned by the Serviere family for centuries. The land where the vineyards are located, located in the village of Lunel, is stony and surrounded by woods, which make it dusty and dry. Once the grapes are harvested, they are destemmed, the process of separating the berries from the tannin-rich stalks. The grapes are then pressed. In this regard, it is important to emphasize that the pressing is done manually. Among the characteristics of the Grange Philippe Merlot production cycle is the length of maceration. The fermentation phase lasts two weeks and takes place in stainless steel tanks. The same tanks also house the wine during the aging phase before it is bottled and served at lunchtime. Classified as a Vin de Pays d'Oc (VPO), this French Merlot has a longevity of up to ten years.
