Description

Firriato Ribecca is a wine with an intense character and aromatic profile. It embodies all the flavor of the Mediterranean and an elegance and smoothness that have made it one of the most sought-after wines in the Sicilian panorama. This IGT Sicilia embodies all the aromas and flavors of that enchanting place, the Pianoro Cuddìa, a land just a stone's throw from the coast of Trapani and the fortress of the ancient city of Erice. It is the perfect wine to accompany all the typical dishes of traditional Sicilian gastronomy and has deservedly collected numerous awards and recognitions from the most prestigious guides over time. What is now one of the most important vineyards in Sicily is owned by Salvatore Di Gaetano. However, the credit for the company's entrepreneurial growth goes to his wife, Vinzia Novara, the true soul of the Firriato brand and part of the success that has placed Sicilian viticulture on the winemaking scene. Firriato Ribecca is born from respect for naturalness and the exaltation of the winemaking value and unique characteristics of the exclusive grape variety it is made from. It is produced from 100% Perricone grapes from the Firriato estates, where the significant presence of clay in the estate's soil and meticulous agricultural practices aimed at preserving the soil's salt balance have created this excellent wine. This virtually unique grape variety is harvested individually at the end of September, and the entire process is carried out manually. It is the last variety to be harvested at Pianoro, ensuring it receives special attention throughout the entire winemaking process. It is then aged for approximately 10 months in French oak barriques, followed by six months in the bottle.

Firriato's strength is that it has been able to interpret, from the very beginning, the ancient Sicilian winemaking tradition in a modern key. Started in 1984 in the Trapani countryside, in Baglio Sorìa, the adventure of Salvatore Gaetano and his wife Vinzia evolved rapidly, taking the company to the top of the island's production quality in just a few years. Today, with more than three decades of experience and their daughter Irene working in the company, the philosophy has not changed and five more have been added to the original estate, creating a unique winemaking heritage with around 470 hectares under vine, no less than 34 labels and a total of 4.5 million bottles produced.

The company, nevertheless, is always projected towards the future and to the enhancement of the territory, in particular, at the moment, it is very focused with its efforts on the Etna area.
