Description
The rediscovery of Timorasso is based on extreme research in the vineyard with the aim of obtaining intact and very concentrated grapes. This choice is almost compulsory as this grape, which has always been difficult to manage, must be taken care of with particular attention to vegetation management and yields per vine. Timorasso can offer surprising aromatic potential and is rich in norisoprenoids, i.e. aromas that are already formed in the grapes but are expressed in their fullness in aged white wines. The notable structure and significant acid tension contribute to enhancing mineral tones not usual in Italian whites. The colour is straw yellow, sharp and of medium intensity, very clear. The aromas are undoubtedly elegant, composed and intense, playing on floral tones and fresh, mineral hints. In the mouth it is fresh, savoury, pleasant and frank, balanced and lively in its development, without weight or superior body, but with a sure step and great memory. On an aromatic level, this grape, with its uneven berries, gives an aromatic richness that expresses itself in all its completeness from around eighteen months after the harvest. Staying in the bottle favours an evolution for a few years; at this point, the wine's resistance to ageing becomes a characteristic that can contribute in a very short time to giving Timorasso the right connotation with a catering industry that is increasingly looking for products capable of enhancing their culinary masterpieces.
Today, I consider Timorasso to be on a par with the other vines I grow; my commitment is to have it included on the best wine lists, not as a 'rare beast' but as an ambassador of the territoriality, authenticity, personality and culture of what is offered to the discerning consumer.

Our vineyards enjoy a favourable microclimate as they are located close to the Apennines overlooking the Po Valley and influenced by the proximity of the sea, which is only 60 km away as the crow flies. We define our method of cultivation as common sense agriculture, without the use of pesticides, with pruning and leafing that respects the vines.
Claudio Mariotto in the early 1990s, together with a few other local winegrowers, believed in an abandoned indigenous vine like Timorasso to produce a great Piedmontese white wine for ageing.
Thanks to his daily life in contact with the vineyard, Claudio decided to give value to his work by bottling the wine he produced. Read more
