Description

Organic Barolo Riserva DOCG, 14.5% ABV, produced by Cavallotto in Castiglione Falletto, Piedmont. 100% Nebbiolo, 0.75L bottle, 2018 vintage. A Barolo Riserva born from the passion of a family that has cultivated the Bricco Boschis vineyards in the heart of Barolo since 1928. A wine that tells the story of a region and a family that has successfully passed down the art of winemaking. Complete destemming, fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Horizontal fermentation tanks with a maximum controlled temperature of 29°C. Traditional fermentation with semi-submerged cap maceration. Maceration period: 18-30 days. Malolactic fermentation in concrete tanks during the spring following harvest. Aged for 48-60 months in Slavonian oak barrels. An aristocratic bouquet interwoven with menthol and mineral notes, blended with jammy berries, roses and violets, humus, roots, and oriental spices. A deep, luminous garnet color. Harmonious and savory on the palate, beautifully structured, with a noble tannic texture and a pulpy fruity finish.

At the gates of Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Barolo Zone, on the slopes of the Bricco Boschis, one finds the Cavallotto Winery, which lies on 25 hectares of land. Since 1928, the Cavallotto family has owned the estate Tenuta Bricco Boschis. In 1946, they were the first cultivators in Castiglione Falletto to vinify all of their estate’s fruit. In 1948 they released the first bottling of their own BAROLO wine, with the label and registered trademark of Cavallotto.

Today the children of Olivio – Laura, Giuseppe and Alfio, the 4th generation working the family farm – continue to exclusively vinify the grapes produced in their estate vineyards into DOC and DOCG wines: Barolo, Dolcetto d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba, Langhe Nebbiolo, Langhe Freisa, Langhe "Grign" made from Grignolino grapes, Langhe Chardonnay and "Pinner" made from Pinot Nero grapes.
