Located less than 2 km from the winery, the castle is a superb example of distinctive Swabian architecture, elegantly combining elements of Classical, Cistercian Gothic, Romanesque and Arab architecture into a construction of unparalleled beauty. The presence of Man throughout the ages is evident throughout the area, and visitors can admire low dry-stone walls, traditional farmhouses and the jazzi, the sheep pens used for the flocks during their journey between summer and winter pastures, as well as the underground tanks and snow cellars used to provide an invaluable source of water in this karst terrain. This human presence is accompanied by a particularly generous nature, with an impressive variety of wildlife (including the lesser kestrel and the wolf) and plants, with splendid oak forests and the varieties typical of the Murgia steppe.
