Description

The Calafuria Rosato is produced by Tormaresca, the company that bears the name and represents Antinori in southern Italy. Founded in 1998, it is made up of two estates: Bocca di Lupo, located in the Murgia Barese area and Masseria Maime, located in the beating heart of Puglia, Salento. Antinori's goal is precisely to enhance the Apulian terroir, which, despite having long been among the main producers of wine grapes on the peninsula, has never been able to fully express its identity. By cultivating only native grape varieties in harmony and cohesion with the territory, in recent years the company has been contributing to the region's wine renaissance.

Produced on the Masseria Maime estate, the Tormaresca Calafuria Rosé is the result of the company's attention to detail, enthusiasm, and passion and is named after one of the most beautiful bays in the region. This rosé is made from Negroamaro grapes, which, thanks to their proximity to the sea, are able to express themselves at their best, thanks to the Mediterranean temperature and the presence of calcareous and clayey soils. The best grapes for the production of the rosé are selected and harvested by hand in the first half of the year. September and destemmed and softly pressed. The must is then transferred to steel tanks, initially at a temperature of 12°C to obtain a natural decantation which preserves the aromas, subsequently at 16°C for fermentation. Before bottling, it ages in steel in contact with its own yeasts. Calafuria is a soft, fruity and fresh IGT Salento rosé.

Tormaresca has two estates located in the best-known winegrowing regions: Masseria Maime in the Salento area located in the vibrant heart of Apulia and the Tenuta Carrubo estate in the Manduria DOC, a famous area for the production of its Primitivo grape.

Passion, courage and confidence in the immense potential Apulia has to offer in terms of quality are all elements that inspired the Antinori family to invest in this region, in particular in the Salento area. The vision behind the Tormaresca winery was to produce top quality wines from Apulia’s indigenous grape varieties: Primitivo, Negroamaro and Fiano Pugliese.
