Virtus

When Paloma Escribano founded her visionary project in 1998, it was clear to her that she wanted to make natural, balanced and complex wines in harmony with the environment. This philosophy is the backbone of Virtus.

The grapes are harvested by hand, selected from the vine and immediately transported to the winery to be cooled before being transferred to the manual selection table, where only the perfect grapes become part of our wines. We make up to three grape selections before the grapes enter the vats.

Inside the winery, a set of small 5,000 L tanks await our musts, a benchmark in Ribera de Duero, to carry out the individual microvinifications of each plot.

We have 410 French oak barrels. Each one of them is carefully selected and has a maximum life cycle of 4 years. Moreover, all of them are washed, cared for and racked in the same room, without the need to take them outside for these processes. Therefore, once the barrels enter this room, they do not come out until they are discarded and, depending on the type of wine, the ageing process lasts between 12 and 28 months.
