Description
What kind of spirit is this?
Ron Dos Maderas by Williams & Humbert is a blended molasses rum crafted from Caribbean sugar cane. This spirit displays a deep amber hue that matures into intense mahogany. On the nose, it delivers clear aromas of vanilla and ripe fruit, while the palate reveals a warm, full-bodied structure, defined by a distinct sweet and structured profile that integrates notes of raisin, dried fig, and molasses. Subtle oak and Sherry nuances lead to a long, velvety finish, offering a beautifully balanced tasting experience.
Geographical origin
The origins of this spirit lie in the Caribbean, combining select distillates from Barbados and Guyana before travelling to Spain. The hot and humid climate of Guyana fosters a highly aromatic base, enriching the rum with rich, rounded characteristics. Conversely, Barbados provides a clean structural foundation, benefiting from the renowned purity of its local water sources. The final phase takes place in Andalusia, specifically in Jerez de la Frontera. Here, the local microclimate interacts with the spirit during its resting period, seamlessly linking its tropical beginnings to the esteemed Sherry maturation heritage of the region, ensuring a distinct aromatic depth.
History and Heritage
Crafted by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, the celebrated Ron Dos Maderas PX 5+5 is the result of an extraordinary transcontinental journey. This exquisite Caribbean rum, sourced from Barbados and Guyana, matures for five years in the tropical heat within ex-Bourbon barrels. It is then transported to Jerez, Spain, for a further five-year maturation in rare Sherry casks. This unique double-ageing process creates a velvety, dark amber spirit that earned 92 points from the Beverage Testing Institute, offering an unparalleled depth of flavour for true rum connoisseurs.

Sherry is a laborious and sophisticated wine; fallen into oblivion for years, has never really lost its value as a wine of excellence so much that lately the spotlights are rekindling on this truly unique product.
The plants of the Bodegas Williamas & Humbert, considered the largest in Europe, are made up of a complex of connected buildings that occupy an area of about 180,000 square meters. The products of Bodegas combine tradition and know-how acquired over the centuries and expressed by the quality of its prestigious labels. The winery still retains wines and brandy that date back to the time of its foundation and obtained the National Architecture Award.
The vineyards belonging to the company are located in the triangle formed by Jerez de la Frontera, Puerto di Santa Maria and Sanlucar di Barrameda, an area that enjoys a particular and favourable microclimate due to the presence of the Guadalquivir and Guadalete rivers.
On the global scene, Williams & Humbert is developing an ambitious program of diversification of the high quality agri-food sector. Among the most innovative projects, there are the Rum Dos Maderas that are made and partially aged in the Caribbean, and then transferred to Jerez where they end up maturing.
