Description

What kind of spirit is this?

Caribbean Cask by The Balvenie is a Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Scotland, crafted from malted barley and aged in ex-bourbon and rum casks, defined by its intense amber colour. Its aromatic profile offers notes of toffee, fresh fruit, cocoa, and coffee, leading to a smooth, structured palate. Tasting reveals clear accents of sweet oak, vanilla, mango, and honey, evolving into a long, persistent finish. Bottled at 43% ABV, it is best served at 16–18 °C to enhance its definition, making it an excellent pairing for desserts.

Where it comes from

Hailing from Dufftown in the renowned Speyside region of Scotland, this spirit reflects an environment perfectly suited to malted barley distillation. This geographical bond yields a sweet and highly balanced sensory profile, defined by notable smoothness and fruity tones.

How it is produced

Production begins with pot still distillation to capture every flavour nuance. The spirit first matures in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, building a deep, sweet foundation. It is later transferred to ex-rum casks, expanding the aromatic range with tropical elements. The whisky is bottled non-chill filtered, preserving its aromatic integrity and ensuring a rounded consistency that carries the exotic fruit notes through every sip.

History and Heritage

Crafted in Dufftown, Speyside, by Malt Master David Stewart, The Balvenie Caribbean Cask is a distinguished single malt Scotch whisky. An interesting fact about its production is that after spending 14 years in traditional American oak ex-bourbon casks, it is finished in Caribbean rum casks.

From this winery
Balvenie is a distillery located in Dufftown, in the north-east part of Scotland: Speyside. The distillery has a history of over 100 years in the production of single malt whiskies. It was founded in 1892 by William Grant, next to the castle of Balvenie. The Grant family is still the owner of the distillery. Some equipment is the original equipment and in the distillation rooms a part of the malting of the barley is made. In 2008, the Grant added two new stills. The range of whiskies produced is wide and all of high quality. Read more
