Description

What kind of wine it is

San Giovenale Habemus Red Label is a full-bodied red wine, an expression of the Cabernet Franc grape variety in the Lazio region. Its aromatic profile releases elegant notes of cherry jam, lavender and mentholated tobacco on an undercurrent of woodland. On the palate, it is enveloping, enhanced by a silky tannin that brings balance to the sip, making it the ideal companion for mature cheeses and meat dishes.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Tuscia, in the Blera area, where the vineyards grow at three hundred and eighty metres above sea level. The vines are cultivated using the goblet training system on clay soils rich in stony skeleton, with a south-east exposure. The dry climate, constantly caressed by the breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea, ensures perfect ripening of the grapes, enhancing their aromatic complexity.

How it is produced

The manual harvest takes place in September. The grapes are destemmed immediately after picking to begin a fifteen-day fermentation. Subsequently, the wine matures for thirty months in barrels and is further refined for six months in the bottle. This meticulous production process guarantees remarkable longevity, allowing the wine to evolve elegantly over time.

History and Curiosities

The Habemus Red Label 2022 from the organic winery San Giovenale is an excellent expression of pure Cabernet Franc. Born in Tuscia on sunny clay soils, it offers a silky tannic bite and extraordinary balance on the palate. The meticulous manual harvest and 30 months of ageing in barrels shape its complex structure and enveloping depth, qualities recognised by the prestigious 3 Glasses award from Gambero Rosso. A true Lazio excellence capable of evolving over 10-15 years, ideal for enhancing meat dishes and mature cheeses.

In picturesque Tuscia, between the Cimini and Sabatini Mountains, stands the certified organic winery San Giovenale, founded in 2006 by Emanuele Pangrazi. On sunny, clayey soils caressed by the sea breeze, the winery cultivates Syrah, Grenache, Tempranillo and Cabernet Franc grapes with great passion, expertly tended by oenologist Marco Casolanetti.

Attention to the environment is an essential value for San Giovenale, which works the vineyards with high-density planting criteria to obtain quality grapes. Spring water for irrigation and an eco-sustainable wine cellar with photovoltaic panels complete the commitment to sustainability. The result is wines of extraordinary structure and complexity, such as the excellent Habemus, an oenological homage to the lands of the Etruscans.
