Description

What kind of wine it is

Marramiero Pecorino Abruzzo is a still white wine from Marramiero made from Pecorino grapes. An expression of the Abruzzo Pecorino area, it displays a fresh and enveloping profile. On the nose, it offers pronounced notes of tropical fruit such as mango, melon and grapefruit, enriched by spicy hints. The full and harmonious palate is supported by remarkable sapidity and persistence, qualities that make it ideal for accompanying delicate starters, fish dishes and white meats.

Where it comes from

This wine originates from the Abruzzo territories of Rosciano and the Tenuta Milano estate, areas renowned for quality viticulture. The vines are trained on trellises on deep, rich soils characterised by a clay matrix. These agronomic conditions, combined with a biological and sustainable production approach, allow the grapes to express a notable aromatic intensity. The deep connection with its place of origin is reflected in the glass with a recognisable and linear structure.

How it is produced

The process begins with cold contact between the skins and the must, followed by a gentle whole pressing to preserve the precise definition of the aromas. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats, ideal for enhancing the purity of the Pecorino grape variety. Maturation continues in the same containers and concludes with a period of rest in the bottle. This careful process protects the freshness, ensuring an optimal experience if served at a temperature of 10-12 °C.

History and Curiosities

Inspired by the ancient Abruzzese transhumance, a time when flocks would feed on these clusters, Marramiero's organic Pecorino Abruzzo DOC celebrates the awakening of nature. The 2024 vintage expresses pronounced tropical fruit aromas and lively spicy notes. This still white wine offers a harmonious, savoury and persistent sip, ideal for enhancing fish dishes, shellfish and white meats with its pleasantly enveloping character.

We have been growing vines since the turn of the last century, producing wines that can be easily recognised by the labels bearing the founder’s unmistakable seal. A D and an M intertwine in a root, knotty and stubborn, determined not to detach itself from the ground on which it grew. A mark representing wines that continuously strive to outdo themselves.

We know every plant inside out and each day we care for them all as they grow, with methods handed down from generation to generation, integrated with innovative viticulture research, experimentation and continuous training. The identity of our wines, characterised by a strong territorial mark, is formed in a specific process for each vine and each wine, from the plant to the cellar.
