Description
What kind of wine it is
Marie Demets Champagne is a Brut with a fresh and complex character, distinguished by its golden yellow colour. It is created from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, crafted according to the principles of the Traditional Method. On the nose, it reveals clear floral aromas, enriched with hints of vanilla and honey. On the palate, it is delicate, supported by a fine perlage and pleasant citrus and fruity notes. Thanks to its aromatic structure, this Champagne is ideal for accompanying cheese selections.
Where it comes from
The roots of this wine lie in Gyé-sur-Seine, in the heart of the Côte des Bar, within the Champagne region. The production reflects the commitment of Marie Demets, whose winemaking story began in the 1950s. At that time, André Brément started vine cultivation, laying the foundations for an activity carried on with dedication by the family. The connection with this specific area gives the wine a strong identity, where the unique characteristics of the soils translate into natural elegance and solid structure.
How it is produced
Production strictly follows the stages of the Traditional Method, with fermentation taking place partly in tanks and partly in barrels. After the prise de mousse, the wine rests in the cellar for maturation on the lees for almost ten years. This long maturation period imparts deep aromatic complexity and an evolved character. The choice of Brut dosage defines a precise style, aimed at enhancing the natural fruity and floral notes that emerge during the extended ageing.
History and Curiosities
Produced in Gyé-sur-Seine, in the Côte des Bar, Marie Demets' Cuvée XIXe is a tribute to nineteenth-century tradition. Its story begins in the 1950s with grandfather André Brément, who laid the foundations for this excellent Traditional Method Brut. The result of the perfect balance between Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, this wine achieves profound complexity thanks to an exceptional maturation of almost 10 years on the lees. This meticulous care enhances its delicate honey notes and fine perlage, making it ideal for accompanying elegant cheese selections.
