Description

What kind of wine it is

Podere Le Ripi Sogni e Follia Rosso di Montalcino is a Tuscan red wine made from Sangiovese grapes. Its aromatic profile is distinguished by notes of cherry and violet, enriched by fresh balsamic hints. On the palate, it reveals a pronounced mineral character, supported by a broad and imposing structure that leads to a persistent finish. An elegant interpretation that enhances the purest essence of Rosso di Montalcino.

Where it comes from

This wine originates from the hills of Montalcino, in the heart of the renowned Tuscan denomination. The vineyards of Podere Le Ripi take root in schist and limestone soils, ideal for imparting a natural savouriness. The organic management of the vineyards and the low yields per hectare ensure a clear and defined aromatic expression, where attention to the ecosystem translates into extraordinary flavour persistence.

How it is produced

The production process begins with a meticulously executed manual harvest. Fermentation and maceration take place in cement vats for about twenty days, allowing optimal extraction from the skins. Subsequently, the wine matures for a long time in large oak casks, a stage that refines the tannins while preserving the integrity of the Sangiovese. The result is a deep red, perfect to pair with game, roasts and mature cheeses.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1999 with the aim of creating pure beauty through organic and sustainable practices, Podere Le Ripi is the signature of a true gem of Tuscan winemaking. The evocative name, Sogni e Follia, encapsulates the passionate soul of this estate, whose vines sink their roots into excellent schist and limestone soils. Following a meticulous manual harvest, the bunches are transformed into a sincere and vibrant expression of the land. The exceptionally high quality achieved has been consecrated by international critics, as evidenced by the prestigious 94 points from Vinous.

Podere le Ripi started as a dream, and a very old one too: a dream to create something.

This dream is also an aesthetic one: of creating something extremely beautiful. When I was 18 years old it was supposed to be an island, and Podere le Ripi is not an island, but it is some sort of a peninsula that dives into the noisy Orcia river.

With time, this something beautiful became also healthy and sustainable, and subsequently we realized that it could have been applied somewhere else, therefore becoming replicable and socially positive in its approach.

The pronounced minerality of the wine enhances rich first courses and succulent pork-based dishes. Finally, its long-lasting aftertaste accompanies the tasting of fine aged cheeses with memorable elegance.
