Description
What kind of wine it is
The Dolcetto d’Alba with controlled designation of origin from Fratelli Alessandria is a red wine with a genuine character and a marked gastronomic vocation. Produced in Piedmont from the Dolcetto grape variety of the same name, it offers a satisfying and immediate tasting experience. Its organoleptic profile is distinguished by a fresh and fruity bouquet, which anticipates on the palate a rounded and balanced body. The vinification process involves fermentation and maturation in steel or cement, preserving the drinkability that makes it an excellent wine for the entire meal.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in Piedmont, in the municipality of Verduno, within the historic plots of Boscatto, Cristiani, Sotto Orti and Semolino. These parcels benefit from varied exposures and are situated at an altitude between 250 and 370 metres, optimal conditions for preserving the original fragrance of the bunches. The roots sink into a calcareous and silty soil, a natural element that imparts a distinct cleanliness to the palate. The vineyards, managed with the Guyot training system, host forty-year-old vines, reflecting the winery’s deep agricultural expertise.
How it is produced
The process begins in the second half of September with a meticulous manual harvest, aimed at picking the bunches at their optimal stage of ripeness. In the winery, the must undergoes fermentation and maceration in temperature-controlled steel tanks, kept between 25 and 27 °C for six to eight days. To safeguard the aromatic integrity of the fruit, the wine continues its development for several months in steel or cement containers. A brief final rest completes the production cycle, delivering a dynamic red with an evolutionary potential of three to four years.
History and Curiosities
Born in the historic Fratelli Alessandria winery, founded in 1870, this Dolcetto d’Alba DOC has embodied the purest Piedmontese tradition since 1974. The grapes come from forty-year-old vines grown in the renowned terroir of Verduno, characterised by calcareous and silty soils at altitudes between 250 and 370 metres. The careful manual harvest at the end of September ensures excellent quality bunches, enhancing the fresh character of the fruit. A harmonious red that brings the authentic passion of the family to the glass.

Gian Battista, his wife Flavia, brother Alessandro and son Vittore are the proud custodians of the family’s winemaking tradition and passion, which date back over a century, and represent the seventh and eighth generations of winemakers (the first three generations as Fratelli Dabbene and then as Fratelli Alessandria following a marriage which took place in around 1870).
The winery vinifies only estate grown grapes and has maintained a family dimension. These qualities make it possible to establish a direct and "personal" relationship with the individual vineyards and barrels, an invisible but important connection that we hope will reach and inspire consumers when they drink our wines.
