Description
What kind of wine it is
The Champagne Entre Ciel et Terre Extra Brut by Françoise Bedel is created from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir. Produced using the Traditional Method, it offers a taut and elegant style. On the nose, the Champagne reveals a tight profile and a vibrant vertical vinosity. On the palate it is savoury, with a sip that promises ageing potential between five and ten years.
Where it comes from
Grapes from Françoise Bedel's vineyards in the Marne Valley, between Crouttes-sur-Marne, Nanteuil-sur-Marne, Charly-sur-Marne and Villiers-Saint-Denis. The clay and limestone marl soils give a clear and savoury profile. Vines aged between thirty and sixty years ensure consistent expression. The territorial origin translates into a vertical progression and a pronounced saline finish.
How it is produced
Production is based on biodynamic viticulture, followed by vinification and secondary fermentation in the bottle. The six-year maturation on the lees is essential for the structure of the sip and aromatic precision. The dosage reflects the Extra Brut style, with a dry expression that enhances the natural savouriness. Each stage preserves the authenticity of the raw material, highlighting the wine's gustatory tension.
History and Curiosities
The excellence of Champagne Entre Ciel et Terre 2016 originates from the biodynamic viticulture of Françoise Bedel along the banks of the Marne. The grapes come from historic vineyards rooted in marl and calcareous clay soils, then evolve through a slow 6-year maturation on the lees. This traditional method imparts a taut aromatic profile and a vibrant, vertical vinosity on the palate. Awarded 91 points by Wine Spectator, this Champagne offers a pure sip, enhanced by a distinct, persistent salinity that perfectly seals every important celebration.

Fernand and Marie-Louise Bedel were the first generation and Françoise Bedel took over part of the estate in 1979. The plots have different subsoils, which allows for blending according to the terroirs and the elaboration of 'terroir' cuvées. The champagnes are the expression of a rigorous method that brings out and enhances the qualities and particularities of the earth, the vines and the fruit. Read more
