Description
What kind of spirit is this?
Grappa di Barbaresco by Marolo is a crystal-clear Italian spirit crafted from Barbaresco pomace using bain-marie distillation. On the nose, it reveals a fine and alluring profile with notable consistency and richness. The palate offers a soft, harmonious, and well-balanced experience, carefully avoiding any harsh alcoholic bite despite its 44% ABV. This leads into a long-lasting and clean finish that leaves the palate feeling thoroughly refreshed.
Geographical origin
This refined spirit originates from Alba, situated in the heart of Piedmont. It is crafted exclusively using Barbaresco pomace, creating a direct link to one of the region’s most celebrated wine-growing areas. Sourcing these high-quality raw materials ensures a deeply authentic regional expression that highlights the identity of the original grapes. This strict geographical focus translates into a structured aromatic profile and outstanding sensory clarity throughout the tasting.
Production process
The extraction process relies entirely on slow bain-marie distillation, a gentle technique using indirect heat to safeguard the delicate integrity of the pomace aromas. Following this careful extraction, the spirit undergoes maturation in stainless steel vats. This deliberate resting period maintains the crystal-clear transparency of the spirit while fully retaining its primary aromatic freshness. The result is a highly structured yet balanced profile that perfectly captures the essence of the grape.

Marolo represents the spirit of the land, the loyalty to its most noble vineyards and the transformation into a grappa that glorifies its natural characteristics. Distillation happens in bain marie disctoninuos stills, one for white and another for red, in small batches over a long period of time so that the original flavours of the grapes can be experienced.
Marolo is based in Alba, the capital of the Langhe, one of the world’s premier winegrowing districts for its diversity of grape varietals and the quality of its wines. The Langhe hills produce some of the finest red wines, such as Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera, Dolcetto and Brachetto, but also great whites like Roero Arneis and the aromatic Moscato d’Asti.
Marolo’s grappas are a mirror of the incredible richness and diversity of the territory and viticulture. Not a neutral, standardized, industrial product, but a spirit able to narrate the grape from which it came, to enhance the varietal’s typical aromas, and express a unique, personal character linked to its land of origin.
