From this winery
  • Start up year: 1838
Deutz has its roots in Aÿ, one of Champagne's historic and most renowned terroirs. It is a brand of convictions, whose story has been built by successive generations, all of them dedicated, passionate and inspired. The residence, built in the traditional Champagne style, harbours the Heritage and spirit unique to Deutz. Deutz was founded in 1838 through the association of William Deutz with Pierre-Humbert Geldermann, both wine merchants from Aix-la-Chapelle. Convinced that a fine Vineyard was the Cornerstone of great wines, they started buying top quality plots and making wine. By combining their technical expertise, knowledge of markets and will to succeed, they developed the firm internationally.

The registers and order books bear witness: Deutz had already earned a solid reputation well before the beginning of the 20th century.

Over the years, their successors worked hard to develop the brand's character and elegance. From the outset, Deutz on its approach through the generations: a consistent and harmonious blend which gives all Deutz wines a unique style.
And because quality is born of the fruit of the earth, the brand has purchased land in some of the Champagne's best villages. These include, in addition to Aÿ, plots within the famous "Côte des Blancs".

Today, under the leadership of Fabrice Rosset, Deutz demonstrates the same rectitude in its quest for excellence. Its assets include a passion for terroir and tradition, sustainable viticulture, and a fine range of carefully crafted wines.
