Domaine de Montcalmes

Domaine de Montcalmès is located 30 km north-west of Montpellier. It takes its name from the hamlet of Montcalmès located on the homonymous plateau overlooking the Hérault valley. Part of our paternal family comes from this fraction.

Originally the Domaine extended for 30 hectares of vineyards completely vinified in the cooperative cellar. In 1998, Frédéric Pourtalié and his father Jean-Marie decided to create a special winery. The first vinification in red takes place in 1999, so only 5,000 bottles are produced.

Today we produce around 50,000 bottles a year. Our property covers 22 hectares in the municipalities of Puéchabon, Aniane, St Jean de Fos and St Saturnin Lucian (common all parts of the denomination Terraces Larzac).
