Already as tall as three apples I was walking through the vineyards with my grandfather in the heart of the golden triangle of Champagne: Chouilly, Cramant and Cuis. In those days, champagne didn't have all the prestige of today.

It was the time of huts with friends and the seasons were punctuated by the work of the vine. The grape harvest was the reward for a hard year's work on the land between the harsh winter and the mild summer.
