Description

What type of spirit is it

Zafiro Premium Classic Gin by Williams & Humbert is a Spanish London Dry Gin crafted from a grain base of malt, barley, and rye in Andalusia. This clear spirit, with 37.5% ABV, offers a dry, fresh, and well-balanced profile with impressive intensity. The aromatic bouquet is defined by juniper, enhanced by vibrant citrus notes of lemon and lime and a delicate presence of white flowers, leading to a clean, persistent finish. Distilled five times and matured in oak, it provides an excellent foundation for a classic Gin and Tonic or various cocktails.

Where does it come from

This spirit hails from the Jerez region of Andalusia in southern Spain and is produced by Williams & Humbert, a producer world-famous for its expertise in the region’s spirits. The area benefits from a favourable microclimate and mineral-rich soils, which provide the ideal conditions for the cereals used in the base spirit. The distillation process reflects a technically precise approach focused on absolute purity. The resulting profile pairs a crisp juniper backbone with citrus brightness and floral nuances, maintaining an elegant character.

How is it produced

The production begins with a high-quality grain spirit, which is redistilled with carefully selected botanicals, including juniper berries, lemon, lime, and floral essences. This process occurs in copper pot stills, involving five distinct distillations to achieve the highest level of clarity and refinement. Following distillation, the gin undergoes oak maturation, yet retains a remarkably clear and luminous appearance. The final spirit offers an intense botanical aroma and a crisp, fresh palate, ensuring perfect harmony between the nose and the taste for versatile cocktail preparation.

History and Curiosities

Crafted in Andalusia by the renowned sherry house Williams & Humbert, Zafiro Premium Classic Gin marries the cellar traditions of Jerez with exceptional purity. Benefiting from a high-quality grain base grown in mineral-rich soils, the spirit undergoes five copper pot distillations. It is then carefully refined through a prolonged oak maturation that enhances its vibrant character whilst maintaining its brilliant, clear appearance. This meticulous craftsmanship results in a sophisticated gin with a profoundly rich Spanish heritage.
