It was 2004 when Luciano Ercolino, picking up a long family legacy, founded his winery in Paternopoli.

We are in one of the most vocated and historical areas of Irpinia, where the 50 hectares cultivated with the native varieties, Fiano, Greco and Aglianico, insist. These serve as a solid basis for a project that aims to enhance the Irpinian wine tradition through a contemporary technical interpretation.

Story The name Primitivo derives from the early maturing of the grape. Its origins are uncertain but are possibly native to the Dalmatians and imported to Puglia by the Illyrians more than 2,000 years ago. Adding to the credibility of this hypothesis some authors claim Primitivo can be identified with the Croatian vine Plavac Mali and more so to the Zinfandel originating from Hungary and subsequently exported to California and Australia. Recent DNA analysis confirms this hypothesis. (Vines of Italy, Scienza, Calò, Costacurta).
