History In Apulia, viticulture is both history and innovation. Tormaresca is the expression of these two souls. Character, personality and qualitative potential are the characteristics that the Apulian territory transmits to the varieties, indigenous and not, that are cultivated there. This is why the Antinori family began investing in Apulia in 1998. They considered this region to be one of the most promising in Italy for the production of quality wines with a strong territorial identity. Tormaresca owns two estates located in the areas most suited to the production of quality wines: Tenuta Bocca di Lupo, in the heart of the Castel del Monte D.O.C. area, and Masseria Maime, in one of the most beautiful areas of the upper Salento.

Description

The Neprica Primitivo is produced by Tormaresca, the company that bears the name and represents Antinori in southern Italy. Founded in 1998, it is made up of two estates: Bocca di Lupo, located in the Murgia Barese area and Masseria Maime, located in the beating heart of Puglia, Salento. Antinori's goal is precisely to enhance the Apulian terroir, which, despite having long been among the main producers of wine grapes on the peninsula, has never been able to fully express its identity. By cultivating only native vines in harmony and cohesion with the territory, in recent years the company has been contributing to the region's winemaking renaissance, with an eye to the human factor and respect for tradition.

The Tormaresca Neprica Primitivo is the result of the company's attention to detail, enthusiasm, and passion and is produced with Primitivo grapes. The best grapes, at the moment of maximum ripeness, are selected and harvested by hand and subsequently destemmed and softly pressed. The must is then transferred to steel tanks where the alcoholic fermentation takes place, lasting between 8 and 10 days at a controlled temperature not exceeding 26°C. Subsequently, still in stainless steel, the malolactic fermentation takes place and is completed before the onset of winter. The refinement takes place for 8 months in steel and then in the bottle for another 4 months. Of a purplish-red color, it has a pleasantly aromatic scent and taste, mainly of red fruit and with a good structure.
