Description

Still red wine from Etna DOC, 14.5% ABV, produced by Tenuta delle Terre Nere. Blend: 98% Nerello Mascalese, 2% Nerello Cappuccio. 2022 vintage. A wine that expresses the power of the volcano, produced with grapes grown on the northern slope of Etna at 850-900 m above sea level. Alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature (28-30 °C) and spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Aged in barriques, tonneaux, and large barrels (10-30 hl) of French oak (20% new wood). Bottling after 16-18 months of aging in wood and 1 month of aging in steel. Complex, with a balsamic note reminiscent of Mediterranean aromatic herbs. Pale ruby color with orange reflections. Elegant, balanced, with a pleasant acidic-tannic note.

Tenuta delle Terre Nere is located on the northern slope of the Etna volcano. The wines are produced from vineyards in three crus: Guardiola, Calderara and Feudo di Mezzo. The extremely special soil and climate conditions, together with the high altitude, make these wines similar to Burgundy or Barolo. Since the 2004 vintage, the company has been self-sufficient, and the grapes are vinified in the new cellars. The winery has been converting to organic farming since 2007.
