Description

A wine that has become the very image of change in wine Sicily. It originated from the vision of being able to compete with the world in producing this noble and widespread grape variety. A long road that began in 1985, full of surprises and successes. Today, Planeta Chardonnay is an icon for the whole of Sicily. Its vineyards of Ulmo and Maroccoli are unique in position and terroir. The fermentation and ageing in French wood, which has been carefully and precisely carried out for years delivering an extraordinary wine in terms of grace and power.

Soil composition Vineyards of Ulmo and Maroccoli are average in texture, moderately deep with an abundant presence of pebbles, slightly limey, and with sections of dark organic matter.
Cultivation system Spurred cordon.
Plants per hectare Between 4,500-5,000 vines for Ulmo and Maroccoli vineyards.
Yield per hectare Between 6,500-7,500 vines for Ulmo and Maroccoli vineyards.
Harvest The 4th of September for Ulmo, whereas the 10th of September for Maroccoli.
Fermentation temperature 18 ⁰C
Wine making After destemming and crushing, soft pressing and static sedimentation occur at a low temperature. The fermentation is carried out in barrique at 18°C with 11 months of ageing, and bâtonnage is carried out every 10 days.
