Located south of Lake Iseo, in one of the most geo-climatically favourable parts of the wine-growing region, the Montenisa estate consists of 60 hectares of vineyards and an old building complex used for cellars.

The most important building is undoubtedly the 'Palazzetto Maggi' built in the 16th century and frescoed by the Lattanzio Gambara (1530-1574) from Brescia. This building is located in the centre of two large courtyards enclosed by porticoes.

The small church of Santo Stefano is also part of the estate. It is on the hill of the same name and overlooks the village: immersed in greenery amidst vineyards, this thousand-year-old parish church, with its Greek-cross plan, has for centuries preserved the tombs of the local noble Calini family.

Vendor Montenisa (Antinori)
Story Montenisa is situated in the heart of Franciacorta, around Borgo di Calino, near Lake Iseo. In 1158, the bishop of Brescia gave the village to a noble local family. Towards the end of the 19th century Lavinia Calini, who married Gaetano Maggi, inherited the property that will remain part of the noble Brescia family’s heritage. In 1999 the Marchesi Antinori and Conti Maggi families agreed about the management of the land surrounding the villa intending to produce a great Franciacorta from these noble vineyards.
Origin Cazzago San Martino (Brescia).
Wine making In early spring, following alcoholic fermentation which occurs partly in stainless steel vats and partly in barriques, the wine undergoes a second fermentation in the bottles and subsequently remained in contact with the yeasts for at least 24 months. Remuage is still carried out by hand using the typical pupitres as tradition dictates, giving each bottle special attention.
Aging After disgorgement, the bottles rest for at least three months before being marketed.
Allergens Contains sulphites
