From this winery
The winegrower MARCHAND was born on February 24, 1813 in Morey-St-Denis where Pierre Marchand, a small winegrower from Reuille-Vergy located on the upper Côte de Nuits, married Marie Jacotier who had inherited a vineyard from her deceased father three years earlier. In 1815 a son, also named Pierre, was born and whose namesake died on the day of his eighth birthday.

Undeniably, the work of building up a profitable wine business was shouldered prematurely by youg Pierre who, before his death in 1871, had a son François, born in 1848, who eventually took over the vineyard.

Afterwards came François'son François-Joseph, know by Joseph, who was succeded by Emilie, father of Claude the present owner. In 1983, the property grew to include an 18 th century winegrower's house located in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin.

Since 1999, Denis, Claude's second son, has taken over from his father.
