Description
What kind of wine it is
Cuvée Lunae Brut by Lunae is a Ligurian sparkling wine that blends the Albarola and Vermentino varieties. Produced strictly according to the Traditional Method, it displays a straw yellow hue with a fine and persistent perlage. The floral bouquet of hawthorn and wisteria, combined with notes of summer fruit, precedes a delicate sip. A clear savouriness elegantly balances the creaminess, making it ideal as an aperitif or to accompany refined seafood dishes.
Where it comes from
It originates in Liguria, along the hills of Castelnuovo Magra that slope down towards the Ligurian Sea, at the foot of the Apuan Alps. The proximity to the coast ensures an ideal microclimate, giving the grapes a distinct mineral character and unmistakable freshness. In this environment, the grape varieties offer aromatic nuances that evoke the Mediterranean scrub, enriched by hints of flint, sage and white pepper.
How it is produced
The grapes, harvested by hand, undergo a gentle pressing in the absence of oxygen. The must undergoes its first fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, then rests for eight months on fine lees. The process follows the Traditional Method, with secondary fermentation in the bottle and a period of twenty-six months on the lees before disgorgement. This slow evolution imparts a subtle hint of brioche, enriching the creamy mousse and ensuring a long-lasting fruity finish.
History and Curiosities
Born between the Ligurian Sea and the Apuan Alps, Cuvée Lunae Brut 2018 fully expresses the vocation of the Ligurian territory. This fine sparkling wine is created from a blend of native Albarola and Vermentino grapes, carefully hand-harvested. The meticulous artisanal process includes 26 months of bottle ageing, which gives it a fine and creamy perlage. On the palate, it is fresh, savoury and mineral, enriched by intense notes of hawthorn, sage and flint: the ideal choice to enhance refined dinners based on fish and shellfish.

Cantine Lunae deepen their roots in the millenary hystory of this land and people, whose great vine-growing and wine-making tradition have inherited. Etruscans, or perhaps Ligures and then Romans, were the first to grow vineyards in the surroundings of the beautiful Luni, the "Moon City".
These lands have given birth to our vineyards, to our passion, to our wine!
