Description

What kind of spirit is this?

Essentiae Liquore di Caffè by Lunae Bosoni is a Ligurian liqueur with a 25% ABV, crafted from concentrated coffee to deliver an intense aromatic profile. It presents a deep, dark brown hue with almost black highlights, leading into an enveloping and harmonious palate. The flavour is defined by a robust coffee character, perfectly integrated with smooth vanilla notes. This versatile spirit is ideal served neat as an after-dinner digestif or used as a base for refined cocktails, offering a clean and well-defined finish.

Where it comes from

Produced in Liguria by Lunae Bosoni, this spirit is inspired by an ancient local recipe and historic after-dinner customs. Its creation pays homage to the 16th-century Genoese navigators who first introduced coffee to the region, establishing it as a local staple. This heritage informs the authentic character of the liqueur, ensuring a persistent coffee aroma and a dark, intense appearance that perfectly reflects traditional Ligurian coffee culture.

How it is produced

Essentiae Liquore di Caffè is produced in small batches between January and May. The coffee is gently extracted using traditional moka pots, a method chosen to yield a concentrated and highly aromatic base. Alcohol, sugar, and vanillin are then added to achieve a smooth, rounded profile. With no wood ageing, the liqueur maintains a pure focus on the rich coffee extract, resulting in a beautifully harmonious and balanced finish.

The lands of Ortonovo and Castelnuovo Magra, little villages on the border between Tuscany and Liguria, lie on the hills facing the Mediterranean Sea and protected by the marble peaks of the Apuam Alps. Here rises Luni, the ancient Roman city so shiny and rich of marbles that the Barbarians, descending from the Alps, took for Rome by mistake.

Cantine Lunae deepen their roots in the millenary hystory of this land and people, whose great vine-growing and wine-making tradition have inherited. Etruscans, or perhaps Ligures and then Romans, were the first to grow vineyards in the surroundings of the beautiful Luni, the "Moon City".

These lands have given birth to our vineyards, to our passion, to our wine!
