Description
Still red IGT Toscana, 15% ABV, produced by Isole e Olena. 100% Sangiovese, 1.50 l magnum, 2022 vintage. A wine that embodies the quintessential Tuscan Sangiovese, a Cepparello born from a stream adjacent to a densely planted vineyard. It matures for 18 months in French and American oak barriques, then ages for a year in bottle. The color is ruby red tending towards violet. On the nose, aromas of cherry, black cherry, and blackcurrant combine with hints of bitter chocolate on a spicy undertone. The tannins are rough and the acidity is still crisp but well-balanced. The finish is dry, recalling the opening fruit, with a medium-long finish.

The wines have Cepparello at their head, a barrique-aged Sangiovese classified as an IGT - because at the time of its creation in the 1980s a wine comprising 100% Sangiovese could not legally be labelled as Chianti. There is a Chianti Classico and a Vin Santo, as well as some excellent wines from the Collezione de Marchi label, including a Syrah called Eremo, a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Chardonnay. Read more

| Production technique | The treatment of the vineyard, in full de Marchi philosophy, limits the use of phytosanitary products to a minimum and excludes practically all non-natural fertilisers. Spontaneous fermentation is preferred, with natural yeasts, reserving inoculation for particularly difficult seasons, with extreme temperatures or excessively wet and rainy weather. |
