Description

Planted in 1998 by Jerry Milbrandt, the vineyard lies along a stretch of steep cliffs above the Columbia River, in the Ancient Lakes area. It is a cooler site thanks to the river’s influence, and the soils are composed of fractured basalt, gravel, silt, and caliche deposited during the glacial‑era floods. Like all Milbrandt vineyards, Evergreen is farmed using sustainable practices. This site produces fruit with a sublime mineral character and vibrant acidity — a balance that winemakers love.

Climate The year 2024 was a rather difficult one for grapes in the state of Washington. An early and unusually intense frost hit the vineyards hard at the end of the 2023 growing season. The Walla Walla Valley was particularly affected, with bud damage reaching nearly 100% in our vineyards. Surprisingly, despite the challenges, quality remained high. Although atypical and with lower yields, the 2024 harvest produced wines of remarkable complexity, concentration, and intensity, with a beautifully expressive and captivating character.
