Description

Still red wine from Salento IGT, 16% ABV, produced by Gianfranco Fino. 100% Primitivo. 0.75L bottle, 2022 vintage. A Primitivo that embodies Gianfranco Fino's passion and dedication, a wine that expresses all the power and elegance of the Apulian grape variety. The vines, predominantly trained using the Apulian bush vine system, grow on red clay-limestone soil, caressed by the breeze from the Ionian Sea and the warm Apulian sun. The grapes are gently dried on the vine, hand-picked into plastic crates with careful selection of the bunches, and transported by truck with an insulated refrigerated container. Maceration in a 70-hl stainless steel vat, with skin-must contact for two to three weeks. After racking, the wine is immediately released into French oak barriques, 50% new and 50% used. Daily batonnage until the first racking. After approximately nine months of aging in wood, the wine, without fining agents or tartaric precipitation, is bottled and released for consumption after approximately nine months of aging. A broad palette of blackberry preserves, blueberries, dried roses, dark chocolate, licorice, damp earth, and mineral-empyreumatic hints of gum. A dense, unfathomable ruby-purple red. The palate is rounded and fleshy, yet well-modulated by a vigorous freshness; finely crafted tannins and excellently managed alcohol.
