Description

What kind of wine it is

Fleury Champagne Rosé de Saignée Extra Brut is the ideal Champagne for those seeking a dry and structured profile. In the glass, it displays a captivating brilliant ruby colour, introducing a bouquet dominated by notes of fresh red fruits, blackcurrant and plum tart. On the palate, this biodynamic rosé stands out for its rich vinosity, balanced on the finish by a delicate sweetness. Rated ninety-three points by Decanter, it pairs excellently with flavourful cheeses and sea bream carpaccio.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Courteron, in the heart of the renowned Champagne region. The Fleury estate manages its own vineyards using strict biodynamic and sustainable farming practices. The production philosophy focuses on quality starting from the vineyard, allowing the most authentic expression of the terroir. Thanks to this meticulous care, the Pinot Noir grapes offer a sip of great depth, ensuring an excellent ageing potential that extends from five to ten years.

How it is produced

The production process follows the strict principles of the Traditional Method, using the saignée technique to obtain a true Rosé de Saignée. The Pinot Noir grapes undergo targeted skin maceration before pressing, a crucial stage to impart the must with its colour intensity and aromatic nuances. Vinification continues in temperature-controlled tanks, where malolactic fermentation takes place. Finally, a very low dosage defines a dry and extremely balanced profile.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1895, the Fleury Père & Fils estate enhances its twenty-five hectares through the excellence of biodynamic practices. The company philosophy focuses on vineyard work to ensure superior quality. Made from pure Pinot Noir using the ancient saignée method, the Rosé de Saignée Extra Brut boasts a dosage of only 2 g/l. Thanks to this meticulous artisanal care, the cuvée has been awarded an impressive 93 points by Decanter.

Champagne Fleury is a biodynamic producer from Courteron, a small village in Champage that's closer to the northern Burgundy region of Chablis than it is to Reims. Fleury's winemaking philosohy is more Burgundian too, focused on creating great wine in the vineyard and less in the cellar. Read more

Its rich vinosity enhances refined fish and shellfish dishes, proving ideal with a fresh sea bream carpaccio, strawberries and lime. It pairs beautifully with cheeses or with flavourful scallops with leeks caramelised in Champagne and curry. Finally, it surprises when matched with desserts, finishing harmoniously alongside a delicate vanilla blancmange with raspberry compote.
