Description
What kind of wine it is
Eric Texier's Cotes du Rhone Brezeme is an organic red wine that expresses the identity of the Rhône Valley. Made from Syrah grapes in the Côtes du Rhône area, it reveals a taut and vibrant profile, with lively acidity and firm tannins destined to evolve elegantly over time. Thanks to its essential style, it is an ideal companion for hearty dishes, pork and flavourful cheeses.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Brézème, in the northern section of the Rhône Valley, where the cool climate is key to enhancing the tension and tannic structure of the Syrah. The vines grow on a limestone marl slope with southern exposure, a condition that ensures balanced ripening and clear aromas. The origin from this specific area gives it a unique territorial character, closely linked to the peculiarities of the soil.
How it is produced
Vinification involves whole cluster maceration for six to eight days and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in open concrete vats. The wine matures on fine lees for a period between eighteen and twenty-four months, always in concrete vats, to consolidate its structure without the influence of wood. Following a handcrafted approach and a production philosophy focused on purity, the wine is bottled without any filtration or fining.
History and Curiosities
Born in the rare terroir of Brézème, characterised by a cool climate, this pure organic Syrah is an authentic artisanal expression crafted by Eric Texier. The vines sink their roots into south-facing slopes of limestone marl, producing grapes that are naturally vinified with indigenous yeasts and whole cluster maceration. Patient ageing in concrete on fine lees imparts depth to the wine, which is bottled without filtration or fining. A vibrant red with lively acidity, perfect when young with flavourful meats and destined for elegant evolution.
