Description
What kind of wine it is
Coppo Alta Langa Riserva Coppo Extra Brut is a sparkling wine produced using the Traditional Method with a deeply Piedmontese character. The result of a careful blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it stands out for its straw yellow colour and extremely fine perlage. On the nose, it offers a fragrant bouquet with hints of yeast, vanilla and ripe fruit. The palate is fresh and linear, ensuring a complex, balanced and long-lasting taste, ideal for pairing with cured meats, shellfish, sushi, fried fish and cheeses.
Where it comes from
This wine bears the Coppo signature and represents an authentic expression of the Alta Langa area. The vineyards are located between 270 and 450 metres above sea level, with an east-west exposure that encourages slow and steady ripening. The soil is characterised by clay-limestone marl with a predominance of silt, a substrate that gives the wine a marked precision of flavour. The synergy between soil and climate defines the typical mineral complexity and refined elegance of this reserve.
How it is produced
The harvest takes place in August through manual selection of the best bunches. After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in barrels. The wine rests on the lees for nine months with frequent bâtonnage, then matures for a further thirty-six months following the principles of the Traditional Method. This lengthy process imparts structure and intensity, ensuring a solid ageing potential that allows the wine to evolve beautifully over the years.
History and Curiosities
The result of the historic expertise of the Coppo winery, founded in 1892, this exceptional Alta Langa DOCG Riserva embodies the excellence of the classic Piedmontese method. Created from a skilful blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, hand-picked from clay-limestone marl, the wine boasts a refined evolution. After the first fermentation in barrique, it matures for around 36 months in the bottle in contact with the lees. This meticulous care gives a very fine perlage and a vertical sip, creating a sparkling wine with remarkable ageing potential.

Coppo’s history is one of tradition and bold vision for the future, of sacrifice and innovation. It is a story of the unconditional love that Coppo has for their vines’ origins, for varieties that have always been cultivated in Piedmont, and for old family traditions.
The origins of the winery date back to 1892. For over 120 years, the family has remained the sole owner. Since the beginning, the Coppo family has managed estate vineyards and bottled their wine under the name of Coppo, making it one of the oldest family-run wineries in all of Italy.
In fact, in 2012, the Chamber of Commerce added the winery to the national register of historical businesses, highlighting its uninterrupted activity for over a century in the sector. Read more
