Description
What kind of wine is it
Langhe Nebbiolo by Cascina Fontana is a still red wine from Piedmont. Made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, it is the result of a harmonious blend from the Castello, Lirano, Mombello vineyards and the Il Pozzo cru. On the nose, it reveals an aromatic profile characterised by hints of rose, wild strawberries and delicate balsamic notes. In the glass, it displays a bright garnet red colour, while on the palate it offers excellent balance where silky tannins meet a clear freshness, finishing with a savoury and persistent aftertaste.
Where does it come from
This red comes to life among the hills of the Langhe, combining grapes grown in different prestigious areas. The main base comes from the vineyards of Sinio, specifically from the Castello, Lirano and Mombello vines, enriched by the harvest from the Il Pozzo cru in Castiglione Falletto. The Castello vineyard has been cultivated by the family for over a century, ensuring a deep understanding of the soil dynamics. This territorial synergy provides a clear interpretation of the denomination, offering a sip where freshness and tannic structure interact with great finesse.
How is it produced
After the harvest, the grapes undergo maceration and fermentation for about two weeks. The winery adopts a respectful approach: the must is not clarified, resulting in an unfiltered wine. This essential process preserves its integrity, which may lead to the formation of natural sediments over time. Capable of maturing and ageing positively for many years, this red is best enjoyed at the table with meat dishes and first courses, particularly with traditional plin with ragù.
History and Curiosities
Originating from the Langhe, this wine is created from the blend of grapes from the renowned Il Pozzo cru with those from Lirano, Mombello, and the historic Castello vineyard, guardian of over a century of family tradition. The process involves a short fermentation of about two weeks and the absence of fining agents. This respectful and unfiltered approach enhances the characteristics of the 2024 harvest, explaining the possible presence of slight natural sediments. An authentic red with excellent ageing potential, estimated between fifteen and twenty years.

Here, in our beautiful land dedicated to the production of wine, my family have grown grapes and produced wines for at least six generations.
Today I continue to grow the traditional grapes of Le Langhe, dolcetto, barbera and nebbiolo, to produce a range of classic and prestigious wines that are the purest expression of the land from which they are born, Le Langhe. Read more
