Description
Barolo is a still red Piedmontese wine from the La Morra area in the province of Cuneo. The producing winery, Bartolo Mascarello, is located in the Langhe hills at an altitude of between 400 and 900 meters above sea level. The winery's history dates back to the First World War, when Giulio, Bartolo's father and a war veteran, returned to his homeland and decided to open the winery. This wine's history is steeped in love for the land and a desire to promote local culture. Indeed, the red wine from the Langhe is still produced today following the most ancient traditions, from the grape harvest to the long maceration process, all the way to bottling. This extremely high-quality wine has received countless national and international awards over the years. It is made from the Nebbiolo grape. A long-lived wine (it keeps very well for over twenty years), Barolo, which has received the Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin (DOCG), is aged for three years in oak or chestnut barrels. Before triumphing on the table with its characteristic robust yet velvety flavor and its ethereal and intense aroma, it spends several months in the cellar refinement in the bottle. The Bartolo Mascarello winery is keen to point out, through a note on the label, that the aging and refining period of the wine takes place strictly not in barriques, but in large barrels.

In the 60s he took the reins of his son Bartolo, who with passion, professionalism and personality made a decisive turning point in production, remaining far from the French fashions. The historic and legendary cellar is now managed by the daughter of Bartolo, Maria Teresa Mascarello.
The company that represents Langarola tradition par excellence is located in the center of Barolo, where the cru Cannubi, Ruè and San Lorenzo, together with the Rocche dell'Annunziata in the municipality of La Morra, are cultivated in a natural way, vinified with long macerations and wise aging in large oak barrels and then bottled with a single label without indulging in the production of separate labels for each vineyard.
