Description
The Champagne Grand Cru Millesimè of the Autreau winery is the fruit of the family's search for innovation, whose roots date back to 1670. On the Champillon hills, the combination of tradition and modernity meets one of the most evocative terroirs of the Champagne wine-growing region, and so in 1953 they founded the Domaine Autreau. Over the years, the company has evolved from the initial 5 hectares of vineyards cultivated by the founder Gerard Autreau to the current 35 hectares, divided into 3 Premier Cru terroirs and 2 Grand Cru terroirs.
From the union of the grapes of the two Grand Crus of the domaine and among the most renowned in the Champagne region, the Champagne Grand Cru Millesimè is born, produced only in exceptional years. This pearl is composed of 25% Chardonnay grown in Chouilly and 75% Pinot Noir from Ay grown in superlative soils composed mainly of chalk. After the harvest, which is done strictly by hand and with the selection of the best grapes as per Champagne regulations, the grapes are taken to the cellar where they will receive a gentle and gradual pressing. The vinification, as per tradition, takes place in steel tanks and then each wine receives complete malolactic fermentation. Attention to each step is essential to maintain the faithful aromas and flavors from the vineyard to the individual bottle sold. The refinement in the bottle takes place for 6 years to allow the wine to evolve, refine and reach its maximum expression, and the result is a decisive and ample champagne, with a taste of ripe fruit and a floral aroma.
